Virgle Ray Vance, 82, a long-time resident of Garland, Texas, passed from this life on February 18, 2020. He was born to Virgle Henry Vance and Estelle Gertrude Bobbitt on October 5, 1938, in Kaufman, Texas. Virgle loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing, and he had a passion for restoring old cars and homes. His family called him “Baby Ray” which he revolted against at the age of 7 but “Ray” stuck with his brothers and sisters. He married Elaine Snowden at the age of 19 and had 4 beautiful daughters that he raised after Elaine passed at the age of 32. He loved his family and friends and was always there for both. Virgle was full of life and shared a laugh with everyone and anyone that would listen. He retired from E-Systems in Garland, Texas. Later in life, he married Sharon Richardson, along with her two beautiful children and they both lived out their lives at the Devil’s River in Val Verde County, Texas. Virgle is survived by his daughters: Regina Baker and husband Mike, Lisa Buckner and husband Terry, Robin Vance, and Tammy Porter and husband David; step-children: Nancy Sklar and husband Craig, and Travis Edwards and wife Tereasa; grandchildren: Derrick South, Cody South, Crystal Wood, Donald Buckner, Justin Buckner, Laine Vance-Jackson, Lauren Robertson and Cole Porter; step-grandchildren: Scott Sklar, A.J. Sklar, Morgan Edwards, Carson Edwards, and Brandon Rasco; siblings: Herschel Vance, Gene Vance, Sue Scribner, Trudy Goines, and Bobby Vance; along with a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins who will all miss him dearly. Virgle is preceded in death by his parents, Virgle Vance, Estelle Bobbit, first wife: Elaine Snowden; and wife: Sharon Richardson; brother: James Vance; and sisters: Shirley Jones, and Nell Lofton. A celebration of Virgle’s life is to be held on Monday, June 14, 2021, at 1:00 PM, in Reflections chapel at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rockwall location, with a reception to follow in The Gathering, also at Rest Haven. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Virgle’s name to the American Cancer Society at https://www.cancer.org/involved/donate.
