Stanley Joe Shipp of Rockwall, TX, went peacefully into the arms of Jesus on July 31, 2022. He was born June 18, 1950, in Dallas, TX, to Jules Lindy Shipp and Lois Hunt Shipp. Stan and his siblings grew up in the care of the United Presbyterian Home in Waxahachie, TX. He graduated from Waxahachie High School and attended college at Navarro College in Corsicana, TX, where he pursued a double major in Commercial Art and Botany. From there, he attended East Texas State University in Commerce, TX, where he concentrated his studies in Commercial Art. While attending college, he worked in the bindery at Hennington Publishing Company in Wolfe City, TX. Stan enjoyed a career in graphic design for over fifty years. He was manager of the art department at Media Graphics in Dallas, TX, and served as production manager, art director, and film editor. He was later employed by Electronic Data Systems in Plano, TX, where he worked as a 3D animator and computer graphic designer. He also worked as an air brush artist, photographer, photo developer, catalogue model, and was a Visual Manager for Bass Pro Shops in Garland, TX, where he created and designed visual displays. He worked in independent movies in visual effects, graphic design, prop design, and as an actor in extra roles. At the age of 60, Stan returned to college and earned a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies. He graduated from Texas A&M Commerce and began a second career as a teacher. He enjoyed ten wonderful years teaching at Alba-Golden ISD, where he taught print shop, robotics, and graphics. He was a talented artist, science enthusiast and inventor. His creativity, inquisitive mind, and love of working with his hands led him into a vast array of experiences and hobbies. He enjoyed gardening and working with wood, rock hunting and carving, especially opals, stained glass and glass kilns, pottery, clay modeling, handmade jewelry, oil and acrylic painting, air brushing, 3D printing, and screen printing to mention a few. He was an avid video game player and made many friends across the globe in the gaming world. He built his own computers and designed box and pamphlet art for video games and CDs. Stan had a warm smile for everyone he met. His gentle spirit, positive attitude and servant’s heart endeared him to all who had the pleasure to know him. Stan was pre-deceased by his parents: Lindy and Lois Shipp; brother: Len Allen Shipp; and sister: Barbara Ann Tisch. Stan is survived by his wife: Darla Shipp of Rockwall, TX; daughter: Amber Wolcott; son-in-law: Fredrick Wolcott; and grandson: Caleb Wolcott; sister-in-law: Gail Galyean and husband Terry Galyean of Alba, TX; brother-in-law: Lewis Parsons of Sulphur Springs, TX; and sister-in-law: Cynthia Hinojosa and husband Jerry Hinojosa of Poetry, TX; as well as many other beloved family members, friends, and church family at First Baptist Church in Rockwall. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, August 13, 2022, at First Baptist Church, 610 S. Goliad Street, Rockwall. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will be held at The Gathering at Rest Haven Funeral Home - Rockwall Location, Friday, August 12, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Stan may be made to the PAN Foundation at www.panfoundation.org for chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Donations will enable others suffering from CLL to obtain grants for high-cost leukemia medications.
