    Kerim Sayan

    January 18, 1930 - May 3, 2021

Kerim Sayan quietly passed away on the warm spring evening of May 03, 2021. He was born January 18, 1930, in Turkey to Ahmet Ali and Esma (Callak) Sayan. Kerim was happily married to the love of his life, Paula Morelan for 47 years. Together these two raised a beautiful daughter Umran and instilled in her the knowledge that in America there are endless opportunities and chances to achieve any goal. Kerim’s eternal optimism and desire to succeed carried him throughout his life as he earned his PhD in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a Law Degree from the University of Ankara. After earning these prestigious degrees, Kerim shared his experience with students and colleagues while teaching at Bishop College before entering the business world. While Kerim was a very accomplished man, he is most remembered for his kindness and caring shown to all. He never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a hand when needed. Kerim was active and enjoyed life up until the end, taking his daily jogs through the neighborhood and sharing sunsets at the lake with Paula. His life was full of love and gratitude for his wife, daughter, and the life he had made for himself over his 91 years. Kerim is survived by his wife: Paula Morelan Sayan; daughter: Umran Cephanecioglu and husband Mustafa; grandchildren: Deniz and Derya Cephanecioglu; brother and sister-in-law: J.T. Morelan and Diane Morelan; nephews and niece: J.T. Morelan II, Tiffany Mead, and Shane Mead. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Rifat, Mustafa, Ibrahim; sisters: Ayse, Elifana, Firdevs. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, May 13, 2021, at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rowlett Location. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association https://www.heart.org/ The service will be live streamed and can be viewed at www.oneroomstreaming.com click on "watch your service" and use Event ID: ResthavenRow Password: SBIUSN
