George Bernard Sorbet was born in Abbeville, LA on May 25, 1939 to Robert & Amanda Sorbet and passed away December 11, 2021 in Plano, TX. A proud veteran, George served in the US Air Force from 1957 to 1961, based primarily at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, KS. Following his service George moved to Texas and began working at Varo in Garland, TX in 1966, a defense contractor involved in manufacturing of night vision equipment. Varo was acquired by Northrup Grumman Electronics Systems and then L3. He was loyal to his employer for more than 40 years and retired in 2010. Outside of work George was a dedicated husband, father & grandfather. He was passionate about his John Deer riding lawn mower and spending hours outside doing yard and garden work. George was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Ruth Prince Sorbet who died in July of 1995 and his siblings: Geneva Morgan, John Willard Sorbet, Reggie Allen Sorbet, Charles Wilbur Sorbet, Robert Sorbet, Jr., Roy Harold Sorbet, Velta Ann Shankles, Beverly Ellen Simoneaux and Betty Ruth King. He is survived by children: Randy Sorbet of Gordan, TX, David Sorbet (spouse Maryanne) of Metairire, LA, Troy Sorbet of Metairie, LA, Brent Sorbet (spouse Kim) of Madison, WI and Lisa Sorbet McNeill (spouse Scott) of Plano, TX; grandchildren: Brian Sorbet, Jeremy Sorbet, Brandy Brandt, Jared Sorbet, Caitlin Sorbet, Jason Sorbet, Jessica Sorbet, Hayley Grimes, Dalton Grimes, Elizabeth Sorbet and Samuel Sorbet; great-grandchildren: Bianca Lynn Childress, Matilda Jane Childress and Leo Etienne and sisters: Mable McManus (CA), Sylvia Brown (AZ) and Shirely Worsham (TN). Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Sunday December 19, 2021 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, Rowlett. A Celebration of Life will take place 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 20, 2021 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, Rowlett Chapel followed by interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Rowlett.
