November 28, 1956 - June 14, 2022
The trajectory of a blessed life in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus the Living Christ began for SGT Gary Anthony Casey in DeRidder, Louisiana. He was born to Estella Casey on November 28, 1956. The oldest child of three, was fun-loving, kind-hearted, and was considered a jack-of-all-trades. He captured many trades by “just doing it”—with an inquisitive mind, he never needed or used instructions – just a mastermind when it came to assembling anything and was brilliant when it came to electronics and smart devices. In the early days of his life, he attended Vernon Elementary School, Vernon Junior High School, and Pickering High School, where he managed to be one of the star Red Devil basketball players of all time. Gary graduated from Pickering with the Class of 1975. Following graduation, Gary joined the United States Army, where he dedicated 15 years of his life as a surveyor. Gary’s most cherished moments were engaging in military activities with his family, as it allowed them to meet new friends and engage in adventurous memories through domestic and international travel. Once retired, Gary executed his love for defense and security by landing a position with the New Orleans Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff. During his 12-year tenure with the sheriff’s office, Gary shared his love of his most valuable duty, counseling at-risk youth that wanted positive direction in leaving behind their most troubled past. Gary’s positive guidance did not stop here. Post Hurricane Katrina, Gary relocated to Dallas, Texas, and was very instrumental in many lives of young people. Gary was offered and accepted a position with the Dallas County Detention Center, where he served as Detention Officer. Gary later retired from this position after 10 years of employment. Gary accepted Christ at an early age, where he frequently visited New Willow Baptist Church with his mother and siblings. Hence, once married, he continued to unite through God’s grace at St. Gabriel the Archangel in New Orleans, Louisiana, then Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rowlett, Texas. Gary was affectionately known as Casey and touched the hearts of many families and friends. He was very active in family arrangements, was the life of family functions, was the Bar-B-Que Master of his home, and brought the spice when boiling his delicious crawfish, as he frequently opposed other recipes, as he noted his recipe was the best. Gary will be remembered and appreciated by so many loved ones. His name, charm, and willingness to help so many will truly be missed. Gary Anthony Casey, age sixty-five, departed this life on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at his home in Rowlett, Texas. He was the husband of Pamela Williams Casey, the son of Estella Casey, and the brother of Zachary Casey and Francis Casey Liggins. Gary is the devoted father of Kevin LaRon Casey (Dawn) and MaKeisha Annette Casey. Gary was also affectionately known as Paw Paw to his lovely granddaughter, Daisha Michelle Casey, and his treasured grandson, Anthony Michael Casey. He is survived by a compassionate father-in-law, Lawrence Williams, a host of beloved sisters-in-law, Alice Guess (Madison), Adrian Todd, Leatrice Williams, and Avril Knox (Marc), a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other sorrowing relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Rest Haven Funeral Home Rowlett. The family will gather with friends prior to the service beginning at 9:00 am. Interment will be 1:15 pm at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery.
