Ruby Wood, age 85 of Rockwall, TX, passed away February 9, 2010. She was born January 18, 1925, in Panola County, TX, to Frank & Pauline (Steger) Ross. Ruby graduated from Beckville High School and worked as a nurse for 38 years. She enjoyed shopping, talking with friends and spending time with family. Ruby was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rowlett, TX.
She is survived by her son: John Wood & wife Dinah of Royse City, TX; daughter: Mary Melton & husband Ron of Terrell, TX; grandchildren: Lori Skinner & husband Kevin of Fate, TX, Stephen Shellito & wife Valerie of Rockwall, TX, Lisa Maillet & husband Cliff of Carrollton, TX, and Lannie Pinson & wife Kim of Mabank, TX; great grandchildren: Lauren Skinner, Morgan Shellito, Jennifer Smith & husband Frank, Justin and Julie Pinson and Joshua and Lydia Maillet; and nephew: Eddie Lewis & wife Retha. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husband: John H. Wood; grandson: Gregory Scott Melton; great granddaughter: Shelbie Shellito; and twin sister: Ruth Lewis.
Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Friday, February 12, 2010, at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rockwall Chapel with Rev. Ken Ashlock officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30pm, in New Prospect Cemetery in Beckville, TX. The family will receive friends Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00pm.
