The Rev. James Robert Maceo, Jr. died on Thursday, Oct.1. in Dallas from complications of Alzheimer’s.  Fr. Maceo was born in Ft. Worth on Dec. 29, 1929 to The Rev. Jaime Roberto Maceo and Elsie Dreyer Maceo.  After graduating from Pascal HS in ‘46, he joined the Navy.  He graduated from SMU in ’53 and the Philadelphia (Episcopal ) Divinity School in ’56.  He continued studies at St. Luke’s, Sewanee, TN in’58 and was a Fellow at the College of Preachers at the National Cathedral in DC in ’82. He served parishes in Denison and Grapevine, TX, nine years at St. Paul’s, and St. John’s Dallas where he retired after a 26 year ministry. Actively involved in the Diocese of Dallas, he served on the Diocesan Executive Council, the Standing Committee as President, Dean of the Anglican School of Theology and Deputy at General Convention. 


Robert is survived by his wife of 55 years Charlotte Briggs Maceo; their four children: Claudia Sharp, Melissa Maceo, James Maceo, and Amy Wooten; their spouses Brenda Maceo and  Dwight Wooten;  and grandchildren Robert and William Sharp, Ian and Dylan Chambers, Gabriel and Monica Maceo, and Daniel Wooten.  Grandson Thomas Sharp preceded him in death.


A Requiem Eucharist will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 848 Harter Rd. in Dallas on Fri. Oct 9, at 11:00 AM.  Burial will follow the service at the St. John’s Columbarium.
